Plants that I currently have

I am not starting from scratch. Over the years I have been reading about different plants and how to grow them successfully. I've planted peppers, basil, cilantro and other spices in pots. I know I can grow things successfully in pots. I moved on to on the ground. A few years ago I transplanted a small, dwarf, lemon tree from a pot to the ground. The tree did amazingly well. I then planted a nectarine tree a few years after the lemon tree. That tree also did amazingly well. A few years after that I planted a fig tree between the lemon and the nectarine tree. That tree is also doing well. My yard is very small, three trees make it a little crowded. For a couple few years I didn't think I could fit a garden in that same yard. I think it was an excuse for me not to do the work. time to add to my garden. I'm building some raised beds.

The beginning of my garden in Pacific Beach

I had always liked going by the PB community garden on the corner of Roosevelt and Shasta, close to Crown Point. I thought about inquiring about getting a small plot for me to start a garden but it seemed too much of a hassle having to walk over there from home to tend to the garden. Weeks, days, years, months, and more weeks went by before I'd think about starting my own garden.
This year we went to the San Diego County Fair (2 pictures) and we saw lots of animals and plants. The way the gardens on display were set up made it easy for me to imagine building my own garden. I decided on building a raised garden box. I did some research on the internet and found this site, http://www.sunset.com/garden/backyard-projects/ultimate-raised-bed-how-to-00400000011938/, for me to model my box planter.
